Meeting the Client Brief: (U3: P5,M4,D1)

Image
To start i made a simple box with red to black fade to be the background to my magazine front cover and the overall colour scheme of the whole magazine. I then added the title of my magazine across the top of the page. This is to draw attention to the magazine and allow people to recognise it more at glance. Next i added the subheadings of what is to be featured in the magazine to give the audience a small insight to what is inside the magazine before they buy it. Then i added the name of the featured artist of this specific magazine issue across the bottom half of the cover to attract customers that know the artist and possible fans of the artist that could look to buy the magazine. I also added North London grime magazine to the top to let customers know where it is based and to fit the client brief. Next i added a bar code, price and strap line to the lower part of the magazine cover as basic needs of a magazine and a product.

Post-Production Techniques and Processes (U3: P5)

Image
In my magazine I used a red and black colour scheme to represent the Grime genre and this is due to my target audience liking the colours red and black so using them on the front cover and within the magazine will be more appealing to them and lead to them buying the magazine more. This will bring more attraction and more attention to the magazine and therefore allowing the magazine to be more successful. In my magazine I used the grime genre. This genre is very popular in the north London which is perfect as it meets the brief better and meets the client requirements for a popular magazine music genre for north London. Also my target audience is very common in north London so the clients brief will be met when looking to supply a popular north London based magazine. The content of my magazine will include several things that my target audience will engage in and enjoy reading. This shows that I would have met the client brief a...

Create Production Materials (U3: P4, M3)

Image
These are screenshots of setting up the templates in Photoshop: First I opened a new file on photoshop. Then I selected international paper to get the correct sizes. I chose an A4 page as the front cover. I chose and an A3 page as the double page spread. Screenshot of some of my images of my artist. Overall, I had to choose the most appropriate images from the thumbnails. I found that many of the images were not lit in the way I wanted them to be, meaning that some of the definition was lost on the artist's face.  With some of the shots, I found that the glare from the flash was too strong or too weak, or that the angle of the artist's gaze was not properly aligned.  Equally, in some of the images, I cropped the hood by mistake. As I plan on using a tight shot for both the front cover and double page spread, with the artist's head over the masthead, I needed to ensure that the head and hood was shown in its entirety.  ...

Plan and Develop Pre-Production Materials (U3: P3, M2)

Risk Assessment: Location Recce: I will be shooting at this residential house in north London, Southgate, N14 5HJ. It is accessible by public transport of both busses and trains as Southgate station is a 5 minute walk away. Draft Layout sketches: I had this idea for layouts because they show off the simplicity of the magazine and also it shows connotations towards the genre. This is through the simple images and minimal text on the double page spread. My Colour Scheme: I am using red and black for the background and selected subheadings and text. I am using the white and grey colours for subheadings and text. Chosen Font: The basic font for the magazine and  cover-lines  will a square block font that will show the more bold side to the genre plus with similar genres they used a block font and this tells me that for my genre it would be wise to go with a block font as well.  Moodboard: These images influen...

Evaluate The Response (D1)

Image
Learning Objective: Be able to pitch ideas of a proposed media product and respond to questions Response to the client's feedback: Narrow down the genre target market; too many genres are being targeted. I will be acting on this feedback to develop my production further. I will be removing drill from the genre of my magazine as it will conflict with grime in many ways and fans of either genres may not buy the magazine as they dislike the other genre and it could interfere with our possible sales numbers and it will also restrict what we can do when digging deeper into either genre. Ultimately, the magazine will only focus on the Grime genre - this is a positive as it is a very popular genre within North London. Does the font fit the drill genre? The client liked the title font so we will be using it in the final magazine when released to the public. The font that I will be using it  because it looks at how the grime genre has hidden gems so using a crystal style font ...

Pitch Your Ideas (U21: P4, M3)

Image
Learning Objective:  Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions Pass Task Merit Task Narrow down the genre target market; too many genres are being targeted. I will most likely take out the Drill genre from my target audience and from the content of my magazine as it doesn't blend well with Grime and rap as well and it could scare off some of the rap listeners if they don't like Drill or want to associate with Drill and its style. This will then allow me to be more involved in the grime genre that grime fans will enjoy more than trying to merge them with drill fans. Does the font fit the drill genre? The font does not fit the genre but the font itself was liked so I am more likely to keep the font and drop the Drill genre from my magazine. This would allow me to be more flexible with the grime genre instead of trying to meet the needs of grime and drill fans. The client felt that the font was very fitting for the grime genre so ...

Planning and Preparing A Pitch (U21: P3, M2)

Learning Outcome 2 (U21):  Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief. My practice magazine proposal from GottersFC Original powerpoint for practice proposal. This is my practice pitch for my magazine.
